Explore A Career in Mining

The mining industry in Saskatchewan provides some of the most rewarding careers, both financially and professionally with over 120 careers to choose from. SMA member companies hire staff from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.

If you are a student, or planning to attend post-secondary education, you may wonder where to start and what options are available to you.

Throughout the year we work with various partners to offer events introducing students to careers in the mineral resource industry.

Mining Career Symposium (Pelican Narrows, Deschambault Lake, Creighton) 

  • Audience: Grade 7-12 Students, Community Members
  • Event Partners: SSR Mining, Foran Mining, Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology, Northlands College

Spotlight on Mining (Saskatoon)

  • Audience: Grade 10-12 Students
  • Career Focus: Mine Eng. Technician, Mechanical Eng. Technologist, Chemical Technologist, Environmental Scientist, Geologist 
  • Event Partners: Saskatoon Industry Education Council, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan

Think Mining (Regina)

  • Audience: Grade 10-12 Students
  • Career Focus: Mine Engineer, Environmental Scientist, Geologist 
  • Event Partners: Regina District Education Council, University of Regina
