The mining industry in Saskatchewan provides some of the most rewarding careers, both financially and professionally with over 120 careers to choose from. SMA member companies hire staff from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.

If you are a student, or planning to attend post-secondary education, you may wonder where to start and what options are available to you.

Our Career Quest Career Quiz provides an interactive way for students to explore careers in mining based on their interests. Combining mini-games and career exploration questions, this tool offers a new way to bring mining into career education and career guidance. The lesson plan provides curriculum connections and additional activities to incorporate other resources, like the SMA Career Profiles.

Mining Career Symposium (Pelican Narrows, Deschambault Lake, Creighton)

Spotlight on Mining (Saskatoon)

  • Audience: Grade 10-12 Students
  • Career Focus: Mine Eng. Technician, Mechanical Eng. Technologist, Chemical Technologist, Environmental Scientist, Geologist 
  • Event Partners: Saskatoon Industry Education Council, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan

Think Mining (Regina)

  • Audience: Grade 10-12 Students
  • Career Focus: Mine Engineer, Environmental Scientist, Geologist 
  • Event Partners: Regina District Education Council, University of Regina
