Mining and Exploration

Potash Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) offers educators an opportunity to explore the diverse aspects of mining operations throughout the province and their links to the Saskatchewan education curriculum.

GeoVenture includes a ½ day introductory workshop, followed by field stops at underground and surface potash mines, uranium mines and milling operations, coal mines, the Potash Interpretative Centre and more. Free relevant curriculum teaching resources are provided to participants.

The GeoVenture Program is FULLY SPONSORED by the SMA (ie all travel, accommodation and meals during the trip) other than a $50 registration fee for selected candidates.

To apply, educators are asked to email a brief letter  that includes teaching background (# of years of experience, grade level, subject matter) as well as personal and school contact information (school name, telephone, fax, email) to: education@saskmining.ca

Due to Health & Safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, SMA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 "Rock'n the Classroom" Hybrid GeoVenture that was being planned for August.

Stay tuned for updates as planning begins for in-person GeoVenture in August, 2022!
